Have you ever heard or read something with perfect timing? Something that resonated with your heart? Something that made you wonder if the message was made just for you? That happened to me recently when I was offered the opportunity to read Grace Revealed: Finding God’s Strength in Any Crisis by Fred Sievert.

Not too many weeks ago I experienced a heart-shattering loss. I felt alone, abandoned, sad, angry, and any number of other adjectives. I find myself on the verge of intense anger and immense sadness. Then I found this book.

Throughout this book, Sievert shares the beautiful life stories of real people who have dealt with real addictions, abuse, physical and emotional challenges, and loss. He presents these stories through the words and actions of the people who experienced them. Reading these stories from their point of view is powerful and beautiful.

Each life experience that is shared is paired with scripture. The scripture points the reader to verses of healing, bold prayers, the power of prayer, and forgiveness. Overarching each of these verses, however, is a portrait of God’s grace.

One quote that stood out for me when reading this book was, “Worshipping God even in the midst of tragedy shows that we have full confidence in His plan for our lives, even if we have difficulty understanding why it happened.” I am having serious difficulty understanding why my loss happened. But, I am comforted by the fact that God has a plan even for this.

I give this book 4 stars out of 4. It is well-written and carefully edited. If you are needing reassurance in a difficult time, pick up this book. You won’t be sorry.
