Business Basics Bootcamp

Business Basics Bootcamp is not the conventional business book that identifies the mistakes made by entrepreneurs but in turn, fails to provide solutions to those mistakes. Through carefully laid out chapters, Mitche Graf touches on vital subjects in the business world, from lifestyle design right up to social media marketing. In the chapter on lifestyle design, Mitche Graf discards the misconception that for one to attain success, one needs to break their bone and sacrifice quality time with friends and family. He offers a smart approach that enables effective time management and trashes away the consistent tendency to procrastinate.

In the chapters on high voltage branding, marketing and social media, Mitche Graf engages with the readers by providing exercises for readers to do to put into practice the theory they read. He spurs readers into critical thinking by asking thought-provoking questions about their business habits. The chapter on high voltage branding emphasizes the importance of carrying one's self professionally. Any action taken by an entrepreneur plays a vital role in shaping the customer's perceptions of the business and the price that they are willing to pay for the goods or services.

The chapter that most appealed to me was the one on social media. Multitudes of people are on various social media platforms, but not many of them use it for the right reasons. Social media is both an asset and a liability. Business owners are advised to advertise their businesses on all social media networks. Mitche Graf begs to differ, he remarks that if you don't advertise your business on the social platform where the majority of your target market are on, then there won't be a significant change in sales.

There are various reasons why I enjoyed reading the book. Firstly, I did not come across a single typo or grammatical error in the book. This is a clear indication that the book was professionally edited. I also loved the way the author referred to successful companies and their respective owners. This tactic makes the message that the author is communicating penetrate in the mind of the reader. What threw me off about the book was that some chapters didn't have a lot of fresh ideas, they were a repetition of information already elaborated in previous chapters.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because it shaped my thinking on how business is run in the modern world. I now possess vital tools that I could use should I decide to start a business someday. This book is not only suitable for entrepreneurs, but it is also great for people planning to climb the ladder in their respective industries.
