Review by kimoy13 -- The MISOGI Method by Jody B. Miller
If you are searching for a straightforward, probably not so simple, but definitely an effective way to change your life for the better, The MISOGI Method is a must-read book for you.
In this self improvement book, Jody B. Miller takes the reader on a literal journey on how to improve his life. She starts off by explaining that the word MISOGI has traditionally been known to be a Japanese Shinto ritual whereby a person's body is purified by its being washed in very cold water. All sins and feelings of unhappiness are washed away. Her book then reveals to the reader the many ways in which this ancient ritual can be performed today to achieve the same results, minus the cold water of course.
The MISOGI Method shows you how to do a modern day MISOGI and the ways in which you can benefit from it. In order to achieve this, Miller divides her book into five Parts which simplifies the MISOGI process for her readers. For example, as mentioned above, Part one addresses the origins of the MISOGI. Parts two to four assist you in determining what is your MISOGI, how you can achieve it and how you can benefit from it. Part five treats with what can be done after completing your MISOGI so as to continue living your new and improved life.
I do not want to reveal too much but I will say that your MISOGI must be a very difficult goal or target that you set for yourself. Once you achieve it or even if you do not achieve it, you will emerge as a calmer, happier and more confident person.
Miller's book is very engaging as she is having an actual conversation with her readers. Her use of real life examples make her suggestions all the more relatable and achievable. I also appreciate the fact that she highlights celebrities and athletes who have found and completed or almost completed their MISOGIs. The well known quotes she cites, further bring her book to life. At the end of her discourse, she even provides us with a bonus whereby interviews she has had with successful entrepreneurs and public speakers are provided. Her TEDx talk on her MISOGI Method is also available. This book really gives you value for your money.
Everyone, regardless of age, can benefit from this book. It is very inspirational, the technical terms are few and far in between and there are also activities to be undertaken by the readers. These activities ensure that everyone actively participates, thus promoting greater learning and understanding.
I will rate this book a solid three out of four stars due to the minor grammatical and spelling errors encountered. Nevertheless, I encourage others to read it as it was not only informative and fun but also eye opening and life changing. After reading this book, you will be filled with a burning desire to go on to find your MISOGI and try to complete it. I know I surely was.
