Letters to Sis by CW3 Cesare Giannetti, US Army (Ret), is the true story of Mr. Giannetti and his tour in the military. Having traveled to amazing places all over Europe at an amazing time, he recounts events through the letters he wrote to his sister. His amazing story along with the letters are a truly unique reading experience.

We start when Cesare Giannetti was just seventeen years old. He decided the best option of having a future was to enlist in the army. His first day training doesn't go very well with him nursing a hangover and getting sent home as a result. Soon things do look up and he shares his struggles and successes with his sister Marisa. He then embarks to Germany and Italy where he witnesses the effects of the fall of The Berlin Wall and witnesses the frenzy of the Football (Soccer) World Cup. He drinks local beer and meets a few ladies along the way.

Its not all just fun and games as his military career takes him into serious war territory. Being in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait during the Gulf War and even seeing the Olympic Stadium. The mixture of the hardships and triumph of his military career and the memory of his sister, honoured in the book is a great mix. I would have liked to have heard Marisa's voice a little more in the book but, that's my only dislike if it could even be called that.

I liked the honesty of the author. He told his story as plain and simple, a down-to-earth manner. The amazing places he visits and experiences makes the reader feel truly lucky to be reading this. I find it hard to dislike anything about this book. Its neatly written and worthwhile to read. I think this book is a great gift for people dealing with the loss of a loved one. I found myself reflecting on people I had lost and it meant alot to smile through the pain a bit.

I felt that reading this was like hearing about war and military life first hand.
I give this book my respect and a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book for history and military buffs. The events are significant and accurate. The author is a truly good guy who fights for his country and family. I thank you for your service and story sir.
