Review by kutlee -- Inviting Muslims to Christ
In his book, Inviting Muslims to Christ, Randall Ireland shares his comprehensive research and study of the religions of Christianity, and Islam. The author provides a true and through historical delve in the genesis of these two different religions and more strongly outlines their major differences.
Using references from the Bible and Quran, the author introduces and describes the deities that are worshipped by the two faiths. He clearly outlines the steps that one has to take to become a member of either faith. An interesting feature in this book is the clear definition of monotheism in the Christian faith and that in Islam. How this feature is the sole basis of each faith. This book has delineated who God is in Christianity and Islam. It has highlighted the similar historical figures that are found in both faiths.
Using history and the Bible, Randall Ireland enlightens why Christianity is the true religion and why Muslims should be converted to Christianity. The Christian God is presented as a trinity who exists as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Using biblical reference the writer shows the divine unity of the Godhead as one. He introduces the reader to a loving Father who sent his Son to die for the sins of the world and the Holy Spirit whose work in the world is to help the believer in his Christian walk.
He describes who Jesus Christ was, how his birth was prophesied in the old testament of the Bible and illuminates the very reason for his coming to the world. Jesus came to the world to reconcile the world to God the Father and by his death on the cross he became a ransom for the forgiveness of sins. It is by this that Jesus is the only way to the father (God) without whom a relationship between God and the believer cannot exist. The author gives insight to the Christian walk by explaining the important attributes of Christianity. He gives a satisfactory explanation of salvation. This outline proves right the author’s description of his book as a “clear path to salvation.”
The book gives a detailed account of the Holy Spirit as well as the historical evolutions of the understanding of this significant third person of the Christian God head. In his illustration of the differences between Christianity and Islam, the author has shown dramatic differences about many figures that are considered important to both religions. He has illustrated the different inscriptions in the Quran and the Bible concerning Mary the mother of Jesus, John the Baptist, Jesus in relation to being the Son of God, the Holy Spirit as well as the relationship between the believers and non believers.
In Islam, faith in one God (Allah) is the axis of Islamic monotheism and obedience to his will the focus of the Muslim way of life. Jesus is believed to be a prophet who was born of the virgin birth but was not a child of Allah because Allah is supreme, did not marry and should not be associated with having a human child. In his book the writer with reference to the Quran, shows how Muslims believe that Jesus did not die on the cross but escaped and went to heaven and the complete denial of his (Jesus) divinity as God or the Son of God but reveals him as the son of Mary.
In Islam the Holy Spirit is believed to be the angel of God and not part of a divine Allah. The author shows how Muslims believe in hostility towards unbelievers. This is different from the Christian belief of a God who showed love to the world by sending his only Son to die for the world while it was still sinful. Christians are to pray for, and treat unbelievers of their faith with love and preach to them the good news of Jesus Christ.
The author shows how Muhammad’s response to rejection, inspires a religion full of hate, offence and violence. Clearly differentiating with Jesus of the Bible who chose forgiveness over rejection. It is quite interesting how Sharia law endorses certain types of lies and how Allah sometimes deceives his people. The book also revels that In Islam; it is permitted to deny your faith. These truths about Islam are contrary to a religion that seeks to promote peace and claim to be true.
Inviting muslims to Christ defines Christianity and gives a scriptural guide to any reader (people of all faiths and non believers) about the history of Christianity, whom Jesus Christ is and why he is important. The book highlights how the belief of Christianity started well over 150 years before Islam. I believe through this book that the truths that are presented in the Bible are more accurate than the ones presented in the Quran through Muhammad’s revelations due to this time factor. From this book it is clear that the information presented in the Quran is a deviation or a misunderstanding of the truth. I am recommending this book to people of all faiths to read especially Muslims and those who are new to the Christian faith.
The most captivating part of this book is the writer’s effort in researching the truth concerning both Christianity and Islam, laying it down and using that to win a soul over to the Christian faith. The author shows his passion to the cause of salvation through Jesus by guiding the reader on how to renounce Islam using prayer and scriptural declarations.
There are no erotic scenes in this book and no profane words. I enjoyed reading this book and admire the passion behind its inscription. However due to the seemingly unprofessional editing am awarding Inviting Muslims to Christ 3 out of 4. This is only because this book is special and aimed at transforming a person’s life. My faith as a Christian has been strengthened.
