In Fulfillment: A Journey Through a Spiritual Life , author ICA does just what the title suggests: guides the reader through the best ways to lead a spiritual life. The book focuses on what God has done for humans and how we live our lives for God. Told in eleven parts, the author answers many questions, including the most prominent: What am I missing?

There is no profanity or erotic scenes in this book. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars . The reason I give it this rating is because there were a lot of thought-provoking ideas that were discussed. Some answers are backed by science, some are more anecdotal. Everything the author says is stated as more of a fact than opinion. The author is Mihail Militaru, a man born in communist Romania who goes by the pen name ICA. His own life and experiences are the basis for this book, so while some ideas are backed by other sources, some could be argued against.

The book covers a very wide range of topics, including emotions, relationships, choices, our purpose, energy, family, etc. Most experiences a person will go through are present somewhere in there. I found new ideas on things I did not expect to find in this book, like secondary emotions and whether we owe anything to the people around us. A big topic covered is love and the idea that love is all that matters in this life. This is a popular Christian idea.

ICA makes it clear at the beginning that this book is about the Christian God. However, he refers to God using both “he” and “she” pronouns, which isn’t what the majority of Christians do. He also asks and answers questions in a way that readers who are not religious or spiritual could relate to. By replacing the word “God” with “the universe” or whatever a person believes in, I think anyone could learn something from this book.

I would recommend this book to anyone searching for spiritual answers for the big questions they have in life. Even if you did not want to read the whole book, it is told in clearly marked sections based on different topics. The author wrote it with the purpose of guiding other people to God and a spiritual life. As I mentioned before, while it is a religious book, it could likely be altered for those who do not believe the same things as the author.
