The essence of most memoirs is to serve as a catharsis for their authors; thereby fulfilling a therapeutic purpose for them in order to let out bottled up emotions from past years. The Mindset : My Journey From Janitor To Silicon Valley Millionaire In Five Years by Ace Bowers is not an exception; this inspirational memoir is an interesting story of rags to riches.

Growing up as the last child in a family of five, Bowers had a chaotic childhood. The magnitude of chaos in his household was beyond imagination. Owing to his parents' lack of financial discipline, the family constantly grappled with financial difficulties; hence, they lived paycheck to paycheck. At an early age when he should have been carefree and happy, he had a lot of things to hide from the world. The enormous number of discords he witnessed at home left him with lifelong psychological damage.

At a point in his life, he worked for the minimum wage of $6 per hour as a janitor. A seemingly negative occurence in his life became the stepping stone which propelled him to greater heights. Subsequent events would catapult him from the lowest ebb of his life to becoming a Silicon Valley millionaire at an age when his peers were still trying to find their feet in life. A shift in his mindset, hard work, determination, and motivation amongst other positive attitudes played a pivotal role in his success. He acknowledged that God lined up destiny helpers along his path to help him succeed.

The book is outlined in ten organized chapters. It is written from the first-person perspective and it is simple to understand. I enjoyed reading the book; I finished it in one sitting. I also found the story to be relatable. The success strategies contained in this book would most benefit readers who are ready to put in the hard work and not for those looking for quick fixes.

I like the fact that Bowers was upfront and specific about the details of his story. He left nothing to the imagination; the jobs he did and employers he worked with were all mentioned. The income he earned were specified and the people he came across were identifiable. There was no speculation in his story; he was down-to-earth and made no pretenses about the extreme hardship he encountered and endured while growing up, before he found his feet.

There was nothing I disliked about this book. I found a negligible number of errors therein which did not interfere with my reading. It also appears to be expertly edited. It contains no profanity or sexual content whatsoever. I hereby award The Mindset: My Journey From Janitor To Silicon Valley Millionaire In Five Years by Ace Bowers, a four out of four stars. I didn't award it a lower rating because it can serve as an inspiration for readers to achieve their goals. It will be suitable for a wide range of audience particularly lovers of inspirational memoirs. Readers who need a clear-cut plan on how they can positively turn around their financial situation will be motivated as well as learn a thing or two from reading this book.

Hard word and the right mindset helped Ace to succeed. I like that he included the story of his childhood and his early work experiences. It helps readers understand the title and how our mindset affects our life and our choices. Great review!
