From Drift to SHIFT by Jody B. Miller is an inspirational collection of stories from individuals who have gone through a time of change in their lives. Jody gathers these stories and weaves them together showing how each person has gone through periods of struggle, self-reflection and ultimately shifts their lives into a direction of more purpose and therefore discovers true happiness.

Through Jody’s unique method of writing, she is able to weave very personal stories into an easy to read guide. Readers will be motivated to apply insights gained from the book in hopes of changing their own lives. Throughout the book, self-reflective questions are asked, and then true stories are told to find relatable moments that a reader can use to find their own shift in life. She ends each chapter with a highlights page, reiterating the main points, in an easy to read bullet-point list.

From Drift to SHIFT is for anyone sensing a life change, whether that is a new career, an end or start to a relationship, a call to travel or are just done with the status quo of life. The pages are filled with detailed personal encounters and will leave the reader inspired and touched by the incredible journies these people have been on.

I give this book a 3 out of 4 stars. It is very well written, with hardly any errors found. The style of writing Jody uses is accessible to all and even when she writes about her own experiences, they are written with authenticity and humility. She has woven her own stories, with those of the others seamlessly and has helpful ideas for the reader to utilize. I enjoyed learning about the incredible people in this book and believe others will find their stories touching and inspiring. While this type of book has been written by many others, in many ways, From Drift to SHIFT does provide some new perspectives to the search for happiness.

If you are struggling to find purpose and happiness in your own life, I would suggest giving this book a read. You may find you connect to one of the stories provided, or the ideas Jody suggests. In this easy to read format, you may discover the nudge you have been looking for. A great read that will no doubt have you asking yourself what ways a shift could bring you more happiness into your life.
