In Ace Bowers' memoir, The Mindset, we learn about his life from his childhood into his adult life when he writes this book. Bowers allows us into his troubled childhood with very detailed recollections of his parents fighting and their abusive habits; we are introduced to people who have been very important to his development; and he takes us through the most pivotal time in his life when he decides to break his family's cycle of poverty. Ace Bowers teaches his readers just how important the right mindset is.

The Mindset is the first memoir I have read, and I am happy to say that I truly enjoyed it. Bowers' writing is so captivating that I thought I was reading a non-fiction novel, which I had not expected. I appreciate the way that Bowers was able to draw me into his life story by telling it as though it was more than just his past.

Another aspect of this book that I enjoyed was how real Bowers was with his audience. There are many traumatizing events from Bowers' past that were probably hard for him to share but he did it to ensure his story was told thoroughly. Without these tumultuous times, we wouldn't understand who Bowers is or why he is making the decision to better himself when he does. I appreciate Bowers' ability to be transparent in order to convey his story.

Finally, I love the messages that Bowers presents in his writing, and that there is more than one. One message is that none of us are stuck in the path we were raised in, we can overcome anything and get to where we want to be. That is a powerful message that so many can relate to which opens up the audience for this book. The main message Bowers presents is that with the right mindset, hard work, and determination anyone can achieve their goals. This is a simple message that we've all heard our entire lives, but Bowers illustrates just how true it is.

Ultimately, I thoroughly enjoyed Ace Bower's memoir, The Mindset, and would recommend it to others. While I believe any adult would enjoy this quick read, it is the best fit for those who are looking to improve their situation and/or are working towards achieving a goal. I rate this book 4 out of 4 because I enjoyed the messages, the raw stories, and the way it read like a novel. To add to these great points, I was also impressed that I didn't find any errors, which shows me how much the author cared to perfect his work.
