The Ultimate Guide for the Avid Indoorsman
John Drivers' book, The Ultimate Guide for the Avid Indoorsman, is a witty, pun-filled delight. Exploring the hardships and opportunities afforded to the Indoorsman, a person who is most at home inside. With tips, illustrations and instructions on how to better succeed at indoorsmanship, John weaves this book together with hilarity and smarts. Often contrasting the indoorsman to his counterpart the outdoorsmen, he is quick-witted without being harsh or too judgmental. It's a light-hearted read exceptionally written.
Throughout the guide, you will enjoy moments of laughter and self consideration. You will find yourself comparing your life to that of the Avid Indoorsman, honestly hoping to find ways to identify with this great hero. The book is written in such a way that you could skip ahead to any chapter and receive insight into a certain topic of indoormanship, however, it is a delightful read from front to back.
Upon finishing the book, a desire to connect with your inner indoorsperson will linger. Actions you might have considered shameful will now fill you with pride. You will realize you have within you a whole skill set that has never been recognized or appreciated. A new community of like-minded Indoorsman should arise from this phenomenon.
The only criticism this reviewer can find is the author's dislike of cats. Now considering myself to be very close to the Avid Indoorswomen described, I can say that the companionship of a cat is considerably enjoyable to many introverted, house loving people and while some cats (one of my three included) have the deep desire to explore the outdoors, many are very content with their pampered domestic situation. Read chapter 8 for Mr. Drivers' feelings about cats.
The audience for this guide would be anyone interested in living a more indoors style of life, it would even be an excellent read for outdoorsmen, to truly understand how the other half lives. Really, it's a great read for anyone looking for a well-written book that promises laughs and satisfaction.
I give this book a 4 out of 4. I have chosen this rating as I did not find one grammatical or punctuation error. The book reads like a university student's thesis, but with delightful touches of humor. It tackles the topic of conquering the indoor environment much like our outdoors friends conquer mountains, a feat I feel many will now feel able to accomplish. I enjoyed this book so thoroughly that I plan on gifting it to other, fellow Indoorsman.
