Finding A Job In Tough Times by Dr. Tim Johnson is a workbook to help recognize your assets, build your resume, and as the title suggests; landing a job. The author struggled for years to find work with an incomplete college degree, so he shares all the advice he has gained over the years. After finally becoming successful he wrote this to share his wisdom and life lessons he learned. This self-help book is to help better yourself and hopefully save you from the same struggle.

I rate it 4 out of 4 stars because I found it to be very professional. It is very versatile because you can use it with a degree or no college experience and work or no work experience. It helps you build your resume and recognize some skills/assets you probably did not even realize you had, even for the stay at home parent. It points you in the right direction of where you want to be in life, as in it is not just about trying to make money.

I found it to be uplifting if feeling lost or depressed about unemployment. The exercises are actually helpful in recognizing goals you want in life; speaking of which you will be needing a notebook and pencil for. Though not all of them can be done quickly. Some may even take a couple weeks, so I plan on returning to finish them. It is very easy to read and understandable with many examples/metaphors for reference. It even helps you recognize any faults you may have so you can learn how to fix them.

I would recommend this book to anyone that either wants the best advice for starting out or for those who feel stuck in rut at the moment. I would especially recommend it for everyone who is feeling lost and not sure of what to do to advance their life any further then where they are now. Also this book would be great for those that are just wanting to organize their home life better so they can achieve some life goals.

It has some great interview advice with a list of questions you should ask both the interviewer and yourself before accepting a job. Also it includes some examples of answers to give the interviewer for those tricky questions they ask you. I found it to be helpful as I, myself, am about to start on a new chapter of my life and have not been sure how to begin it. I plan on going back through this and putting in the complete time and effort into these exercises. If taken seriously and the work is put in, I truly believe this book can land yourself into the career you always dreamed of and help change your life for the better.
