Charles Sacchetti's Knowing He's There: True Stories of God's Subtle Yet Unmistakable Touch is a faith-based autobiography that is both a charming and quick read about the author’s life from boyhood to present day and the effect his religion has had on his life and those around him. He encapsulates the love given and received by his Lord and Savior through the stories he tells. Each chapter is a short read and yet so much information is packed into each one. From his beginnings as a little boy, navigating the world with his friends to experiencing deaths in the family and close friendships, his relationship with God is felt throughout.
Charles’ teachings of faith as viewed through his life experiences bring more meaning to the phrase “by the grace of God”. There is not a single negative thing told by the author about the people and experiences he has witnessed. Instead, any negative life experience is looked at as a test of his and his family’s faith and belief that they are being taken care of. They are being given a teachable moment in time and take those lessons to heart.
The book was well written and edited perfectly No spelling errors or typos were found in the book. The pace with which one can read his book makes the reader want to read it again after finishing it, so strong is his conveyance of his life lessons and his faith.
For those less inclined to read a “religious book” rest assured! Charles treats his religious life experiences like a guide stone. Each moment that reaffirms his faith gives the reader a sense of well-being, not only for the author himself, but for the reader as well. He so invokes the loving nature of his God through both good and bad times that the reader cannot help but feel embraced by his faith as well. He never proselytizes his reader. Instead, he gives them a glimpse into his experiences and how is faith has shaped his world.
Overall, I give this book 4 out of 4 stars. There is no profanity in his book and his topic of personal faith and life experiences is treated with both seriousness and a chuckle here and there. His target audience is not just faith-based readers, but those curious about how one’s faith can affect the lives of the religious and non-religious. I enjoyed reading about his stories and how his faith kept him going. After finishing his book, I was left with a sense of comfort. As if I were in his place. His book can inspire his readers to look inwardly. To figure out what makes their inspirations and desires work. Whether through faith, perseverance, or good luck.
