Stress, worry, and fear are normal for most of us in our modern lives. Failed relationships, world events, and economic fears leave many of us searching for peace. In Purandar A. Amin’s book, Fearless Thinking, Stress-Free Living – “Guaranteed” (Almost), the author wishes to take you on a self-reflective journey towards peace of mind by eliminating stress, worry, and fear. He writes it as a series of thought-provoking letters to his wife but speaks to all who want to silence the tumult in their own head. He addresses how our expectations of people and circumstances affect our inner world.
From his life experience, he shares many good thoughts that apply to anyone. For example, he teaches that the events and people in our lives do not cause us stress but, instead, our reactions to them create the stress. Another example is that everything we experience in life is an opportunity to grow. Additionally, not everything that happens to us is our fault, but we can choose to learn and grow from our experiences.
The points in his book that I liked most are the consistent reminders that stress is our choice. We alone choose our reactions to the events we go through. He points out that worry and stress grow out of the fears we harbor. I also like his advice to pay attention to our thinking. He teaches that our thoughts are the roots of our reactions, whether positive or negative. What we think and believe affects our expectations in life. It is when those expectations crash that we experience stress.
I, unfortunately, found parts of his book unsatisfactory. I disliked most the strong belief system of reincarnation or Karma, so those parts cast a shadow on the good thoughts he shares. I also disliked the subtle, superior attitude towards those who do not believe the same as him. He comes across with a gentle but slightly arrogant tone as he writes as if he is one of a small number who can achieve peace. He does not lead the reader to believe that peace is truly possible for themselves. On the contrary, many people from various backgrounds have found peace through Jesus Christ.
I found many grammatical errors in the book which I found distracting and left me confused as to what the author wanted to say. For example, on page 208, he begins a sentence with, “Pay the attention”. The word “the” should be removed. And on page 217, in the first paragraph, a typo error of “you” should be “your”. A more thorough edit would improve the clarity of the text.
Overall, there are good basic truths that anyone can glean from in this book but those who agree with his belief system will enjoy it more. On the other hand, those who do not hold to the teachings of reincarnation and Karma may not want to read it.
I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars. There are good points to glean but due to the feeling he invokes that peace is attainable for only the elite and the many grammatical errors, I cannot go higher.

You are right. Our different beliefs give us different perspectives on life and how to live it. Thanks for your reply!Ever_Reading wrote: ↑15 Sep 2019, 11:38 The topic of the book is a tricky one because people believe in different things. Too bad the author came across as a tad arrogant and authoritative despite only having his opinion to work on. This one is not for me. Thanks for the review!![]()

Thank you! Being we are all unique individuals with different personalities, we all perceive events differently thus we respond differently.
