This is the first book I’ve ever reviewed, and I struck gold. Sitting at 1,619 pages, this book has everything you need to handle and improve your business or even motivate you to start your own. Through personal example, Dominica Lumazar outlines the work and dedication that it takes to succeed in the business world of today. She excels at what she does and that is proven in her writing.

The book is written incredibly well, with no visible errors and exceptional grammar and spelling. I found the content to be relatable and informal based on real life examples that either happened directly to the Author, or her clients. Her writing is very easy to follow, even though I have no experience running a business, I feel as though there were similar situations in my work life where if she had spread her knowledge to that company, or if I had been lucky enough to stumble upon this book, then there could have been a difference in the way things were done.

I really enjoyed reading the little quotes at the beginning of each chapter, my favorite one was “If people believe they share values with a company, they will stay loyal to the brand.” by Howard Schultz. This quote, like the many others gave the reader the vibes for the upcoming chapter, for example, this chapter was about retaining customers.

I did not like seeing the countless “mini” ads about a bonus covering resources and valuable information. I understand that the Author is famous for her expertise in marketing and branding, however when it was mentioned the first time and then at the end, that would have been enough to grab my attention and lead me to those resources and her bonus chapter. Unfortunately it was irritating and annoying because it felt like a repetitive infomercial that was interrupting my show. I would zone out and lose interest, then stop reading at that mark. The way the book is written and it’s content is enough to sell me on that information.

Overall, this book deserves a 4/4. It is exceptionally written, thorough, easy to follow and is also relatable. I would easily say Empowered: The Business Owner’s Guide to Leadership & Success is exactly as it claims. I would highly recommend this read not only to Business owners, but also to anyone who has ever cared about their work. It truly shows a passion that is not expressed as much as it should be, and it’ll motivate people to get behind their bosses, CEO, etc. in order to better their business.
