Have you ever wondered if there was a missing link to your understanding of what took place in the Garden of Eden? I most certainly have felt that way. Who told you that you were naked? A refreshing reexamination of the Garden of Eden a nonfiction book by William E. Combs takes you on a journey that revisits the Garden of Eden in order to understand sin, faith and salvation.

The author who is a minister of the gospel reexamines the Garden of Eden in a refreshing way as is stated on the cover. He creatively retells the Genesis story from Adam’s point of view giving insight to his and Eve’s innocence, their understanding of God’s command and the effect of eating the forbidden fruit. The book also tackles Adam and Eve’s acquisition of knowledge, good and evil, the resulting issue of nakedness as well as the definition of sin and faith.

The book is well edited. It has ten chapters each ending with study questions for discussion. The author cites both commentaries and the Bible. He also makes a good argument of the first couples innocence at creation that though they disobeyed God it was not out of rebellion because of that one command. This is something that I have not read before or heard preached from a pulpit.

What I liked about the book was the creative retelling of the Genesis story since it gave possible answers to questions that I have never asked. The explanation of the effect of knowledge of good and evil and what nakedness is; also enlightened my understanding. I also liked the way the author went about defining sin and faith as he breaks each of them into two types. What I disliked was less text in chapter eight – We do not wrestle against flesh and blood. Although the testimonies given may provide sufficient understanding, I just felt that Combs teaching on the subject ended abruptly.

I really enjoyed reading Who told you that you were naked? A refreshing reexamination of the Garden of Eden I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars as I didn’t notice any errors it. I would recommend the book to Pastors, all Christians as well as those who are searching for an understanding of what transpired in the Garden of Eden. I would not recommend the book to those that find issues about the God of the Bible offensive.

I am not that religious, more spiritual, I do not have to much of an interest in this particular book. Thanks for the review!

Yes! The Author outlines God's love really well inspite of the confusion Adam and Eve had with their new knowledge.

I read this book and I was also fascinated by the account the author created filling in the gaps and yet not leading us astray from what we know from the scriptures. Thanks much for the review.
