Do you have trouble with staying healthy and worry about whether what you’re eating is really good for you? Well then you are not alone, tons of people struggle to stay healthy everyday. In Health Tips, Myths, and Tricks, Morton E. Tavel, M.D. explains about various health tips, debunks myths, and shares some tricks on how to live a healthier life.

Some of the topics covered in this book include: aids to weight loss, eating a good breakfast, some foods to avoid, myths about hard and soft water, myths about allergies, false cures, scams promoted by ‘legitimate’ drug companies, and alkaline water scams. The main theme of the book is to enlighten more people about the concerns of how to take proper care of their bodies and to eat more of the foods that their bodies’ need. The author even adds facts, examples, statistics, and even sources for where he got his information from.

What I liked most about this book was how well organized and clear the author’s writing style is. He organizes his chapters into three main categories: Tips, Myths, and Tricks. This makes it easier to jump around and read exactly what the reader wants to read, without being confused. I also enjoyed the light humor that the author added in, because it helps keep the reader’s mind focused. Plus I learned a few things that I wouldn’t have known, such as how chocolate has flavanol in it, which can lower blood pressure.

I rate Health Tips, Myths, and Tricks, by Morton E. Tavel, M.D. 4 out of 4 stars. The book was very well written and clear to read. I especially appreciated how organized each of the sections were. There were a few minor errors, but other than that, it was enjoyable and educative to read.

People who suffer from various health issues or even just want to learn more on how to live a healthier life, would definitely benefit from reading this book. This book is also beneficial for those who are interested in becoming a dietitian or nutritionist, seeing as a lot of what this book covers can be used in those areas.
