Who Told You That You Were Naked?. A refreshing re-examination of the Garden of Eden by William E. Combs. This is a non-fiction Christian book taking us through the events that took place in the garden of Eden, the origin of sin and the consequences thereafter. God created Adam and placed him in the garden of Eden. Adam was told to eat the fruit of every tree in the garden except the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God then realised that Adam was lonely and decided to provide him with a helper. He made Adam to fall in a deep sleep, removed a rib from his side and molded the rib into a woman. The woman was Eve. God then told them to be fruitful and multiply. Both Adam and Eve were naked but didn’t realize it. The serpent approached Eve when she was alone in the middle of the garden. The serpent convinced Eve to eat the very fruit that God had prohibited them from eating. Eve was not there when God told Adam not to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. This made her an easy target for the serpent. Eve ate the fruit and picked some for Adam. Adam also ate the fruit. After this their eyes opened and they suddenly realized that they were naked. They even hid when they heard God approaching.

Do we feel naked when we sin? From my own point of view, sin breaks the connection between us and God. It makes us vulnerable since we feel as if we are not protected by God. This is the feeling of nakedness.

The author also narrates the stories of other people in the bible who sinned. He also gives personal testimonies which actually help us see the hand of God at work.

I like the fact that the author includes some questions for reader after every chapter. This helps to reflect on what we have read and test our understanding. The author also gives the reader bible verses for reference in the Bible. I found this helpful since it enables the reader to dig deeper and even understand the scriptures better.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. because the book is well written and well researched. I however think it could be better if the author alerted us at the beginning of a dramatization to avoid confusion.

I would recommend this book for all those Christians out there who wish to deepen their faith in God. It can also be useful during Bible study.
