Health Tips, Myths, and Tricks: A physician’s advice by Morton E. Tavel, MD is a non-fictional book focused towards personal health in terms of optimum growth, development as well as improvement. The book outlines and explains numerous ways and methods aimed towards enriching our lives by incorporating certain foods and drinks in our daily living. In addition to that, the author details various fallacies and erroneous beliefs incorporated in our lifestyles and encouraged by respected health professionals but are injurious to our well-being. The last section warns against certain hoaxes and deceptions fed to the general public and concrete reasons on why they should be avoided entirely.

Besides being informative, the book was very comprehensive. These two properties were what I liked most about it; it was backed up with research and verifiable facts. I learned a bundle about the suitable foodstuffs I already include in my diet and also other ones I ought to start eating now. I was amazed to learn about the vast advantages of cranberry juice. They include prevention of Urinary Tract Infection recurrence in women and in some cases regular consumption for months kills the H.pylori bacteria. Common myths I believe were also debunked by this book. I learned that I really don’t need to eat gluten-free meals since I am basically healthy.

Morton E Tavel, MD expounds the whole book as per its title Tips, Myths and Tricks. He fulfills his promise as the novel has been divided into three distinct sections. Each part discusses several topics under it, describing why they fall under that category while providing information and recommendations as well. I found it easy to read and navigate. The font was well spaced, appropriately sized and facts and suggestions summarized well in bullet- point lists.

I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. It was an interesting read and also thought-provoking. Coupled up with enlightening information and lifestyle altering knowledge, the book purposes to educate the reader. Health is a crucial part in our lives, and this book lets us know what exactly are the things that will help us maintain it, improve it, and be able to fend off a number or two of life-threatening diseases.

The book was well edited, thoughts and facts are well articulated and proper English used; applicable for both U.S and U.K readers. I recommend this book to all readers; it is one that is applicable to all ages and should prove to be very beneficial.
