The book If Life Stinks, Get Your Head Outta Your Buts: A No-Nonsense Guide to Happiness and Success by Mark L. Wdowiak is a book about how to be successful in your life. Wdowiak explains what he has done in his life to be successful and happy. He gives inspirational quotes to make you want to work harder and go get those dreams. The book explains how we have the tools to make ourselves happy and successful, all we must do is work towards it. The author makes sure that you understand that what you want in life is up to you and only you to get it.
I liked the quotes that the author used because they really help inspire you to do something. Wdowiak is 100% brutally honest. However, he says it in the most meaningful way to make sure that you understand what you need to do. His words flow nicely throughout the book and really get you into what he preaches. I love that this book is a great reality check if you like to self-pity yourself sometimes because he wants you to see that everyone struggles, but you are the only one who can change your life.
Although it is a strength too, the tone of voice was abrasive at some points and didn’t get the point across that you need to work on yourself to get what you want. It portrayed a more authoritative voice that demoralizes the challenges you face in life. He needed to change the tone a bit and remember that as people, we also need compassion sometimes. I will say that I personally don’t agree with everything the author wrote like the fact that he doesn’t believe in “fake it till you make it.”
I am giving this book a 3 out of 4 stars because I feel like the tone of voice isn’t for everyone, but he did a great job making the inspirational book that he was setting out for. The book is more inspirational than some of the other books I’ve read on the topic so I would say it is better than a score of a two. However, the tone of voice was a little much in some sections of the book, so it didn’t deserve an immaculate score of a four.
If you want to experience more in your life, get a copy of this book. This book is a must read if you want to change your life for the better. It is all inspirational and exactly what you need to make a positive difference in your life. If you want to get motivated to succeed or accomplish a goal, this book is for you!
