Twisted Threads by Kaylin McFarren

Twisted Threads is a novel about a Japanese geiko, Akira, who is given an assignment to take down a murderer on a Caribbean cruise ship.
In the novel, the main character assumes a different personality, taking on the name Akira Hamada.
Akira Hamada is a young, beautiful woman who boards a ship with her father, Takashi. The young woman is much more than she seems, as she is on an assignment to exert revenge on a murderer. While her fellow voyagers, see her as a beautiful, shy woman with a protective father, Akira is a woman who relies on these assumptions, including her sex appeal and feminine wiles, to successfully complete her mission.

It is interesting that the writer, Kaylin McFarren, wrote in great details about Akira's love interest, Devon, and about how he felt about her: the confusion, doubts, insecurities and devotion. On the other hand, I like how she withholds details about Akira's feelings for Devon, until the middle part of the book, because it heightened my curiosity and made me eager to want to find out more about their relationship.

The novel is a fictional work, written in the third person point of view. Twisted Threads opens with a prologue and ends with an epilogue. It is an interesting book, filled with suspense and also educational.
It is well written and the plots are well put together. There are no typographical errors, because the book is well edited. The writer alludes to actual locations, with the main setting being recollections of events and references to Japan, and some other boat stops in exciting vacation spots.

I also like how the writer of this novel, takes her readers on an interesting, fun journey of romance, friendship and crime. There is a lot of details about life on a cruise ship to educate readers who have not been on such trips, with interesting details of sea life on board the ship and off the ship. The novel will make an interesting read for everyone, especially people who enjoy crime, suspense and romance genres.
I rate Twisted Threads, 4 out of 4 stars, because it also got me reading up on other areas of knowledge that I may not have bothered to read about before, like the history of geishas. I recommend this book to anyone who loves crime, suspense, romance and travel books.
