Pancake Money is the best book I have read so far. I rate the book 3 out of 4 stars. The creativity, grammar and suspense is amazing. How ever, I find the title not appealing as what is inside the book.

For someone who has little knowledge about Catholic church, the book is an eye opener. Psychology lessons by Ann Bowbly makes one enjoy the class. I discovered for the first time that pain is the primary motivator of change. I also learnt that the reasons why people do evil are only three ; power , sex or money. This is the key behind finding motives in criminal investigation.

The level of sacrifice that the detectives do is worth noting. It is depicted as a job that demands sacrificing your family needs as well. There is no rest in the detectives lives till they get culprits to criminal cases that they are handling.

The killing of three Catholic priests in three days is the real drama in this story. The body are staged as though the killer was giving a warning. The first suspect is Mangu Kahu gang leader Jones Maihi. The motive behind it is not understood. He ran out of prison few days to his official release and this adds to mystery in the investigations. The day he attended burial of his son who allegedly committed suicide is the same day he runs away and before hi whereabouts is known, catholic priests start dying day by day.

Bobby and Pollo are such great friends even when out of work. No wonder Bobby goes to such great level of sacrifice to find the master mind behind the killings of the priests after Pollo is dead. Ann Bowbly is depicted as such a great psychologist but still takes too long to discover the motive behind the killings.

The discovery that Liam Tull is the real culprit behind the killing and not Jones Maihi is shocking. How could he kill his only parents? It's shocking that he sexually abused Jones's son then murdered him and staged a suicide. The photos the boy took names with Liam Tull is what made Jones so angry that he needed to revenge by killing him. He put the photos in the casket and snicked away to find Liam Tull . It is discovered that Liam Tull would be travelling abroad and Jones would be leaving prison and might discover what happened between Liam Tull and his son so Tull decides to kill the boy and run away before Jones freedom day.

The search for Liam Tull makes him Murder the priests so that they would never know what happened. It is revealed that the attack at Tegere Savere is planned by Jones who is looking for Liam and Liam plans his kidnapping so that he can get to kill Jones before the motive is known.

The extent that Bobby goes to dig out the grave of the young boy shows his dedication to know the culprit and the motive. Liam manages to kill Jones but Bobby shoots him too.

Pain is the reason behind Liam Tull's behavior. It is told that his father was a sexual abuser and ended up killing the whole family till he was killed and Tull became the only surviver. Psychology explained that when you subject people to too much pain, you get more than you expect. That's why Liam ends up to be sexual abuser and a killer.

It is such relief to the reader that Liam Tull is discovered though seems too late because so many lives have been lost already.

What a book! What a read!
