Final Notice by Van Fleisher is a wonderfully written mystery thriller with a scientific twist. The author wastes no time introducing the characters and the action starts immediately. The author presents current issues in a way that is very tasteful and thought provoking. The action does not let up or disappoint. The views expressed in the book will have you pondering what the world is facing in the near future.
Fleisher has taken an entertaining approach to delving into ageism, racism, gun control and other topics which we generally do not like to discuss and he has presented views and ideologies that may not be far from being expressed in our culture. The characters are well developed. I found the characters to be believable and I could identify with some of the concerns as I am of a certain age. The perils held my attention and I often found myself wondering how I would feel in certain situations as they were presented in this material.
The conflicts in this story are believable even though the story has a sci-fi element. The coping mechanism used from peril to peril deal uniquely with the concerns of today. The relationships between the characters feels natural. This story could have been approached from several angles and the character relationships would still be intriguing. This book reads like it could become a movie, one I would definitely watch.
I found the story line for this novel intriguing. What would seem obvious had enough tension to keep me thinking and hypothesizing to the end. While anticipating the events, I found myself feeling as though I was part of the story. Our government does not seem far from the capabilities or actions expressed. The information or lack of information in no way detracts from the story, but rather adds to it. There were times when I found myself wanting to help in some way. I found myself feeling several emotions; i.e., intrigue, delight, frustration, anger, etc. My heart raced with the pace and compassion.
The material in this book was easy to follow and the transitions were smooth and appropriate. I did not note any grammatical errors. The book was well thought out and the preparation that was given is evident. I give this book 4 out of 4 stars. I feel that Fleisher executed the material well. I enjoyed reading the book. I encourage anyone to add this book to their personal library who is a fan of mystery thrillers and how they can be interwoven with current topics and events.
