Life that is constantly on the run and on the lookout for government officials that might be following is the life that Dan “Tito” Davis has lived. Being accused of a crime that he has no involvement, Tito decided that it would be better to be a fugitive than to spend 30 years in prison. Born in Pierre, South Dakota, the eldest of the five children, Tito was raised in an environment where he has to earn money in order to have something he wants. This desire to earn his own source of income led him to different jobs and eventually got involved in drugs which led to his exile.

Gringo: My Life on the Edge as an International Fugitive is a true story of a man who lived his life travelling from places to places, country to country in order to avoid spending time in jail. Decided to never go to prison, he chose a life on the run. Peter Conti gave life to the tales of Tito’s journey. Taking us to a world with which a very few have experienced.

Once you start reading you’ll be hooked, is the only word I can say to those who wanted to read this book. It will take your time and you might even forget to do the things that you have to do. This book has never a dull moment and that you’ll never stop reading page after page and chapter after chapter. Tito takes us deep into a world where intelligence and money is not everything and that you need to have a lot of luck in order to survive. I like every part of this book, not just because it is entertaining to read, but also because it takes us to a life where poverty and criminality is an everyday thing. It opens our minds to a world that is so far different from ours.

This book shared Tito’s tenacity in every situation he was in. Most of the time he acts based on instinct and not on what is rational. I enjoyed every part of it in which I could not point out a thing I do not like. His creativity and instinct led him to succeed in his tasks at hand, though it led him to trouble most of the time as well.

This book is unique in a lot of ways that I will surely never forget it. It taught me that material things are not everything in this world. Tito taught me that family and the people who truly loves you are the ones which are important than any material thing this world can offer. I would recommend this book to teenagers and to adults as it will change our view in life. This book deserves a 4 out of 4 stars for the way Peter Conti brought to life the experiences of Dan “Tito” Davis.

This was a good book filled with twists and turns, and the narrative was entertaining. His life story seems like fiction, lol. Nice review!
