Ravens Peak written by Lincoln Cole begins with Haatim, a young native Indian who received his Theology degree in the states. Like many family's Haatim and his parents are not particularly close, so Haatim moves back to the states after a family tragedy to find himself. Haatim is a religious blogger who is bored with his current status. He goes to a library for inspiration where he meets a man named George who offers to pay him to follow a woman he rightly believes is stalking him with the intent to kill. Haatim agrees and shakes Georges greasy hand. The closer Haatim gets to this woman the stranger things become until he wakes up to her cooking breakfast in his apartment. Haatim soon finds out the woman's name is Abigail and she is a demon hunter who sends demons back to what we believe is hell. George was the last demon on Abigail's list.

Abigail wastes no time trying to lose her tail, Haatim until she finds out the lesser humans of the Ninth Circle are after him. When Abigail notices Haatim's has been marked where George touched him she makes Haatim aware that he is in grave danger. The Ninth Circle are out for him and they will do anything to capture him for Georges next vessel. Abigail promises Haatim she will save him right before poisoning him and leaving him for the Ninth Circle to take. This story for me was about young people trying to do the right thing even when their parents or friends have lost faith in them. It shows that if you be true to yourself you will find your own path. Let's not forget the demons and amazing action scenes that will keep your eyes glued to the page.

Post-apocalyptic is definitely my style in reading but I'm not a big "demon" fan. That being said I am a big fan of Ravens Peak use of demons and demon hunters. It's difficult for me to find something I don’t like about the book because I thoroughly enjoyed it. The one thing that stood out to me were the chapter breaks. Some of the chapters end in the middle of a thought or conversation. This can be difficult when you only have enough time to read a chapter or two at a time. You have to go back and read some of the conversation in the last chapter to understand what's happening before you pick up on a new chapter. That’s more of a personal preference on my part, but I think it's worth the mention. That shouldn’t discourage anyone from reading it because the storyline is worth the extra reading.

How can someone not love something so thrilling and action-packed? Ravens Peak kept me on the edge of my seat 90% of the time, the other 10% was wondering what was going to happen next. There was so much detail in the action scenes, at a certain point I could see it turning into a movie. The battles and demons keep you in suspense but the comic breaks are what keep you going. This book has an underdog – hero kind of feel that causes you to root for the dark horse of the story. The relationships that are created in this book feel genuine and almost relatable. Overall it was a thrilling read and I will be reading Ravens Fall to see what happens next.

Haatim finds out first hand that secrets can tear a family apart or they just might get you killed. If you are into demons, post-apocalyptic, or YA novels you should give Ravens Peak a read. The war between good and evil will wage on forever. Demons are a part of the real world but that doesn’t mean there's not some renegade demon hunter out there ready to send them back to hell. This was a quick read of only 218 pages but it packed a punch that I would love to feel again. If you are not into action novels or a big fan of demons/vampires, I would not recommend this book to you. I give Ravens Peak a 4 out of 4-star rating. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time and gave me the urge to want more. The chapter breaks are not enough of a factor to lower the rating.
