Ravens peak by LINCOLN COLE is a supernatural action novel. It narrates the experiences of a theology graduate who lost his faith. Haatim gets dragged into a world he no longer believed in unexpectedly after being hired to tail and take pictures of a certain woman named Abigail. After being targeted by a demon cartel and rescued by Abigail, he finds his reality collapsing before his eyes. Frightful and helpless he decides its best sticking to Abigail. Abigail, even though not thrilled with being stuck with a liability and on a personal quest of hers, let's Haatim come along. Together, they go on a series of breathtaking quests leading to a rejuvenation of his faith.
The book is written in third person narrative. The diction is perfect and easy to understand. The language is great as well. The story is both thrilling and captivating. It's like one of those movie where it's power packed action from the very first scene, there wasn't any unnecessary delay. There's just a drop of sarcasm and very small use of humour. The story is also totally relatable. The use of suspense is great. The chapters are fairly long and some predominant themes in the novel are love faith, bravery, family and secrets.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. Its definitely not lesser because the story is great and the delivery? Just splendid!. There are very few errors altogether and that's totally understandable. The characters are well built and there was great use of flashback where necessary. Irrespective, subjectively, it's not 4 stars because of the lack of humour. At several points the suspense was so much, comic relief would have helped.
Now, to the question of how this book made me feel. From the very first page I was hooked. The writing style of the author really is something. It was like watching a Jet Li movie, straight to the action. The chapters are soaked in interesting imagery and I could totally visualize every scene to the tiniest detail. Its one of the few books I've read in a while that I'll say I'm all in for a movie adaptation, it'll be great at the box office with a good producer. The book was easy to follow and the ending was fair enough. Doing such a great job with book one, I can't wait to get my eyes in book two. It was just a tad bit disappointing because of the lack of humour which made me give it a 3 instead of a 4 stars but aside this, it was a fantastic read.
I recommend this book to every supernatural genre lover. Also, if you love pure, undiluted, endless action then this book is for you. I'm a horror genre lover and this book was still incredibly satisfying. Thumbs up Lincoln Cole!
