Bless Your Heart: A Jeannie Johal Thriller by Susan Camus was an engaging and descriptive murder mystery. I would rate this book a five out of five stars. The book was well written without any errors in the editing. The author’s descriptions of the character were very well developed. It was very easy to visualize the scenes in my head while reading. The author did a great job of tying together multiple topics in the storyline. While there were multiple characters and settings, the author was able to keep a recurring theme throughout the book. This crime thriller kept me guessing until the end. I did not want to put the book down and it had my attention from beginning to end.

The book details multiple murders in Greenville, North Carolina. The story centers on Jeannie Johal, who is sent from Vancouver to work on a medical research project. This medical research project had flaws that she was asked to uncover. Jeannie is a skilled physician who is strong-willed and dedicated to serving others. Her work was admirable despite being in an unfamiliar place with danger around each corner. She worked with a small team to help solve the flaws of medical research related to weight loss and diabetes. Many people in the town were hesitant to trust an outsider. They did not believe that she had the best interest of their community as a priority. I particularly enjoyed reading about the arboretum. The descriptions felt real, and it was interesting to see how it fit into the murder mystery. The author also depicts southern life and culture throughout the book.

The book ending was satisfying, emotional and unexpected. The author wrapped up the storyline very well. It did not leave me wanting for more. I would definitely purchase another book by this author.
