LIKE MY MOTHER BEFORE ME by Naley Gonzalez is a compelling novel about one teenage girl who has a complicated relationship with her dead mother, father, brother, and friend. She keeps her life involved within a bubble of bad habits and living the carefree and spoiled life. Alize is a spoiled girl who likes to waste her life by texting her companions, getting high, and skipping classes. Despite that, there is one thing that is good about Alize that she loves to play volleyball. This story illustrates a more realistic depth of emotion by making the girl deals with today's problems and confusion, which is what I appreciate.

LIKE MY MOTHER BEFORE ME by Naley Gonzalez is based on supernatural activities. She is easy on her life until one day approached by a demon and a ghost affecting her life and relationships. The introduction of the witch is which was her mother makes her think that it is an illusion but, later on, she comes to know that she is capable of communicating with the ghost and seeing her supernatural activities. She also meets a demon which makes her life a little complicated. However, her friend Estelle stands by her side to fight this situation. They both share a strong bond and spend most of the time together because her friend also lives a miserable life. Estelle faced a lot of trouble coming from her abusive mother, alcohol addiction, and more.
This story holds the reason for the death of her mother and the presence of demons. Will she be able to learn something from these scenarios or keep spoiling her life. All of these make the book more interesting. However, I felt that she is going through a hard time in her life as she dislikes her father's girlfriend and is not interested in focusing on her career, which can be too much for a teenager.
Other than that, I loved the use of Spanish in the book. There is the use of profanity in the book too. I would suggest 4 out of 4 stars for the book as I relate to the story. I also see nightmares very often, so it was quite a good horror story for me. Readers who love reading horrific fantasy, this book is gold for them.
