Review of Crimeline Hollywood
Sometimes, you just need to unzip your head, take out your brain, and read a book with a straightforward plot and a few laughs mixed in. Crimeline Hollywood fits that task perfectly, and I loved it from beginning to end. Here’s why:
First of all, it’s set in Hollywood, and the characters are as vapid and as plastic as you’d expect; here’s a perfect example from Dash Harwood. “I was, after all, last month’s six across on People magazine’s crossword with the clue, "Hollywood's astrologer for the stars.” I giggled from cover to cover.
Then there’s the plot. Sparklynn James (what a name), singer and screen star, has been kidnapped, and her husband Harmon, lacking any enthusiasm for the police and the FBI, asks her best friend Dash to help track her down. He joins forces with the even more vapid private investigator, the “Gorgeous Gumshoe,” Rebecca Fairway, who reluctantly agrees only because it’ll boost her blog, Crimeline Hollywood.
The antics these two undergo to figure out what’s going on made me turn pages, gasp in delight, and chuckle hysterically. Do they find Sparklynn? Do they live to tell the tale? Who is behind the kidnapping?
There are other things I love. I firmly believe Crimeline Hollywood needs to be made into a movie or at least a Netflix limited series. As I was reading, I was picturing the film scenes in my head. I also love the newspaper headlines at the start of every chapter. They’re exactly what you’d expect to see on a tabloid rag if this incident were real life. One of my favorite characters in the novel is Nigel (the GPS) in Dash’s car. Their conversations sound very similar to the ones I’ve had with my GPS, so I may need to give it a name now, too.
There is nothing for me to fault about the story as I loved it, and I wanted to give this book a perfect star rating. Unfortunately, this book is poorly edited; I counted over 20 errors. Even a free spell-checker would have picked up many of these. This number of errors is rather high, so, as per OBC rules, I'm deducting one star. So, Crimeline Hollywood is a 4 out of 5 stars book.
There’s some swearing, and sex is only suggested, so teens and above could read this book. Anyone who loves Hollywood glitz and glamor will get a kick out of this book.

"Crimeline Hollywood" is a fun story to read according to your review. I hope the talented author, Thomas Collins, gets all of the grammatical errors corrected. This story should be a 5-star rated book once the errors are corrected. Seeing numerous grammatical errors while I am reading drives me crazy.Stephen Christopher 1 wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 04:00 [Following is a volunteer review of "Crimeline Hollywood" by Thomas Collins.]

I've read a few reviews for this book, but yours is the one that pushes me to read it the most. I've read so many emotionally heavy, mind-boggling, or scientifically complex books recently that I would absolutely love to read a book that is just easy, mindless fun that makes me laugh. The only thing that bothers me is the grammar issues. I hope the author fixes the issue, because I don't like reading books with so many mistakes.Stephen Christopher 1 wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 04:00 [Following is a volunteer review of "Crimeline Hollywood" by Thomas Collins.]

That's the thing, it's such a great story, but let down by too many errors.Sarah Zain wrote: ↑05 Nov 2024, 10:06 It indeed looks like a Hollywood movie. But, too many mistakes may affect my reading. Although from the previous reviews I have read the story seems promising and enjoyable. Great review Stephen!

Hi Gerry, it got to the point where I was really angry as I had to continually take myself out of the story to record the errors, and there were so many.Gerry Steen wrote: ↑05 Nov 2024, 13:16

Thank you as always for your kind words. Yes if he fixed these errors and releases a 2nd edition, instant 5/5 stars.RJ Reviews wrote: ↑05 Nov 2024, 13:56 If this book is as hilarious as you say,bI would definitely love to read it. I almost picked it up the other day and now I regret missing that chance. I sincerely hope that the author will invest some efforts to edit the book better.

I'm the same, I'd read a few blah, poorly written, boring books recently, and this one just had me giggling throughout. Shame about the errors, but let's hope he re-releases it.Zanne Crystle wrote: ↑05 Nov 2024, 16:03

Yay Bettny, lovely to see you again. Crime and comedy work well together if it's written properly, and this book is (except for the grammar issues lol)Bettny Andrade wrote: ↑05 Nov 2024, 16:25 I had a while to stop by here, but I'm still reading with anticipation of what new crime story will be chosen next. I like the idea of reading something that involves comedy in its lines rather than the emotion of the plot. Thanks for your review!
