Crimeline Hollywood by Thomas Collins features Astrologer to the Stars, Dash Harwood, as he's recruited to help find and bring home Sparklynn, a celebrity well loved by not just the public, but by himself as well. The quest is made more difficult by the fact that Dash is currently attempting to keep a low profile due to an unhappy client who is out for the ultimate revenge.

I was immediately drawn into Crimeline Hollywood, due in part to the fact that the action begins immediately. I easily read the book for long stretches at a time and always looked forward to picking it up again. Not only did the action keep me interested but so, too, did the mystery of the kidnapping. Who took Sparklynn? Where are they actually keeping her? Why all the strange games? I was not able to solve the case myself and found myself suspecting many of the characters of being the wrongdoer, while never suspecting one of the actual culprits.

I enjoyed the light, humorous writing style. While Dash is clearly a confident man, he also does not take himself too seriously and is far from infallible. He struggles in escaping from spa security after a nighttime recon mission and is unlucky in love. He does make some big decisions that don't make the most sense in regard to the story, such as moving to Sparklynn's hometown when he is trying to keep a low profile, and some small ones in the course of his investigation that are especially amateurish to the point of being careless.

Despite the fact that I immensely enjoyed this book, I am giving it 4 out of 5 stars due to the fact that some of the timing and details about the kidnapping weren't clear and didn't make a lot of sense, especially in regard to the ransom requests. The interactions between the FBI and other characters didn't seem especially realistic, although I certainly can only speculate. There were also a large number of typos throughout the book, which eventually became distracting and even detracted from my enjoyment of the book.

Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an easy, fun read, and I would pick up another book by Thomas Collins in the future.
