A young woman is stabbed and killed on a college campus. An English professor struggles through his mundane life and worries his nagging wife is cheating on him. His therapist is struggling from his own worries, killer headaches. Grady, the Southern cop, has to find the killer before any other young women are stabbed and killed on campus! Murder in Memory is a great, fast read, that I would recommend to anyone who is interested in murder mysteries and doesn’t mind some grotesque details.

The novel is written from many different perspectives: the victims, the killer, the number one suspect: Jon Evans, English Professor, his cheating wife, his therapist, and the Southern cop. The way the novel jumped back and forth between characters was so engaging. I seriously couldn’t put it down. Each chapter was just as engaging as the previous. I had to keep reading because I was so interested in each character! Even the small characters that didn’t get a full chapter were interesting and believable. The small town mayor was cocky and always trying to influence the police chief. Grady’s wife was a great person for him to bounce ideas and theories off of. The receptionist even chewed her gum in such an annoying way that I could even picture her, as well as every other character, no matter how big or small of a role they played!

Mike Thorne did a great job writing a believable murder mystery. Often, I get caught up thinking how unrealistic murder mysteries can end up being and don’t really care to finish the novel. This was not the case with this story. The added intrigue of false memories and hypnosis made it extra intriguing. This is actually the third story I’ve read recently involving hypnosis and false memories. I must say, Murder in Memory is the best one yet! Finally, I’ve found a believable story that involves hypnosis and false memories! It sounds so bizarre but the way the author described it made perfect sense. It wasn’t rushed. It was perfectly paced. Most importantly, every word on the page was necessary. Nothing was overly described, but every detail was used. I was very impressed!

I rate this book four out of four stars. It was so compelling. I literally finished it in one day. It was such a page turner! Even though the author reveals the killer early on, I still was on edge every page, waiting to find out how it all would end.

I’m sure some readers will be surprised and maybe even disappointed by the ending. However, I thought the ending of the novel was brilliant. It was not at all what I expected and I loved that! The ending really made the book unique!

Like the review. it shows how professionally the author craft the book. because it mesmerizing for the killer to be revealed at the beginning and still find the book interesting.
