Review of The Date Farm
“The Date Farm” by Jack Winnick is a fast-paced thriller about an extremely terrifying terrorist attack in the Beverly Hills shopping center. Ten terrorists stormed Saturday night with gas bombs and automatic guns, causing so many deaths. In the meantime, Uri Levin, an Israeli Mossad operative, and his FBI wife Lara are called from their vacation in Ohio to participate in the investigation. The book moves quickly with no breaks and unexpected turns, making the reader want to keep reading.
The author describes characters with a light touch that emphasizes what they do rather than giving us a lot of unnecessary details or foreshadowing.
This might sound strange, but my favorite aspect of this book is how relentless it is; from page one, I was pulled into the narrative of this story by its pacing. Instead of bogging down into unnecessary details in what could have been a slow start-up, the writer began narrating right away, which made me stay on my toes for fear of missing out on anything important.
I would like to rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for some reasons that are quite compelling. Firstly, this novel has a fast-paced narrative throughout that will keep you engaged until the end. As such, the action keeps coming nonstop with many twists, thus adding suspense to it and making it difficult to predict what might come next. Secondly, characters are developed through their actions and decisions, especially Uri and Lara, who have propelled the plotline forward because they possess knowledge as well as resolve these issues. Then, as a final point worthy of mention, is his ability to intermingle high drama along with insightful thoughts about terrorism plus the current political climate. This book is flawlessly edited, and there is nothing to dislike about this book.
I would gladly recommend it to any reader who enjoys action thrillers. The characters Uri and Lara, whose complex relationship is the focus of the novel, will appeal to anyone who likes tales of strong personalities under duress.
