A compelling addition to the C/T/M/H genre, Dorothy May Mercer's "E M P Honeymoon" combines action, mystery, and a hint of romance. Following Kelly McBride and Sgt. Tom Turbulo, a terrifying encounter with a dangerous guy abruptly ends their dream honeymoon on a Caribbean resort island. Kelly's routine shopping excursion takes a turn for the worst, thrusting the couple into a risky scheme to stop a terrorist assault on the United States.

The well-written suspense and quick-paced storyline of the book keep readers interested from beginning to end. A welcome brightness is added to the strain by Mercer's skill at incorporating humor into the narrative. The personalities are depicted realistically, with Kelly's bravery and curiosity coming to light as she and Tom negotiate the dangerous circumstances. The relationship between Kelly's brother, Senator Mike McBride, and the newlyweds, as well as their interactions with other characters, give the plot more dimension.

Through the skillful use of Mercer's third-person perspective, readers are able to see the events as they develop from a variety of perspectives. This storytelling device deepens our comprehension of the characters' motivations and increases the intricacy of the plot. Real-world allusions like the President and the First Lady give the narrative a more grounded sense of authenticity.

Even though the novel does a great job of keeping a fast pace, there are times when it seems hurried, especially in the build-up to the finale. These passages could have been more suspenseful and had a more gratifying ending with a little more detail. This small issue, nevertheless, does not greatly take away from the novel's overall enjoyment.

With no errors, "EMP Honeymoon" has been expertly edited and has a polished appearance. It is admirable how easily scientific ideas about the EMP threat are incorporated and how this adds knowledge without being too heavy for the reader.

I rate it 4 out of 5 stars. Mercer's "E M P Honeymoon" is a really pleasant read because of her deft narrative, compelling characters, and just the right amount of humor and suspense. For those who want romanticized, lighthearted action thrillers, this is a great option. This book may not entirely satisfy readers looking for a really complicated or suspenseful thriller, but it's still a gripping read.
