Review of Quando Dormo
"Quando Dormo" by Edward Izzi is an intricately woven thriller that keeps readers in suspense with its blend of medical drama, psychological mystery, and crime investigation. This novel is about Dr. David Fazio, whose severe night terrors have a supernatural twist, manifesting as actual physical burns all over his body. In this work, Izzi deftly paints the picture of Faizo’s internal struggle and dilemma as he tries to grapple with societal and personal pressures to perform abortions, even though it goes against his pro-life stance. Character development is immense, making Fazio’s plight very compelling and easy to relate to. Through countless unexpected twists and turns in its plot line, the book builds suspense among its audience as they anticipate the fire attacks’ truthfulness as well as Fazio’s defamation of character.
The strength of the novel lies in its multi-layered narrative, which deals with morality, justice, and personal convictions. The author’s attention to detail in both the medical and investigative aspects of the story is exceptional. The investigation undertaken by Detective Dennis Romanowski represents a strong contrast to Fazio’s personal journey, underscoring the broader social implications of the crimes and moral quandaries that arise from them. “Quando Dormo” is one such thriller that makes readers question what is right or wrong. This book creates an enduring impact through the seamless merging of various stories as well as a thorough examination of the characters' lives.
I find the way the book tells us a great deal about Dr. David Fazio and his inner struggle to be most interesting and captivating. The author skillfully included Fazio’s terrible dreams, which he depicts as his moral battles, thus making it a very exciting and eerie storyline. A more detailed discussion of Fazio’s pro-life views and how they clash with the hospital’s requirement for abortions adds weight to this character. The conflict inside him merged with a gripping story that abounds in surprises and holds the audience’s attention through all variations of emotions while following Fazio’s experience.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because of its perfect mixture of medicine, psychology, and investigation. The captivating story is full of turns that are not anticipated and make readers’ pulses accelerate. The book is exceptionally edited, and there is nothing to dislike in this book.
This is a highly recommended book for people who love complex and multi-layered suspense stories where medical drama combines seamlessly with psychological thrillers and crime investigation.
