Devil Among Us had my attention from the very first chapter. While the story depicts a complex terrorism plot that involves several countries and different groups of people, the author did a nice job making the details easy to understand. The fear of radicalism and the changing tactics of terrorists to hide in plain sight were strong themes throughout the story. The length that an enemy will go in the name of hate is truly frightening and the author conveys this message well. I enjoyed the action in this story, however, some outcomes were predictable. Uri and Lara were likable and relatable characters and because this is the second book in the series, I want to go back and read the first one now! It’s not necessary to have read book one to follow this story at all, but the relationship between the two main characters obviously holds some history and I’m curious. Personally, I also liked having a strong, self-sufficient female character doing the work on the front lines. After following the many stories related to our relationship with Israel in the news, it was a fun action packed novel full of excitement, tension and political themes.
