Review of E M P Honeymoon
E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a captivating piece of science fiction that intertwines suspense and action seamlessly. The story revolves around newlyweds Kelly and Tom Turbulo, along with several other intriguing characters. The couple's serene honeymoon at a resort island takes a dramatic turn when Kelly inadvertently encounters a dangerous terrorist group. Realizing the gravity of the situation, she contacts her brother, Senator Mike McBride, who then seeks help from his friend, Assistant Director Joseph. The unfolding events reveal a sinister plot to attack North America, and a desperate race to prevent this disaster ensues. Will they succeed? You'll need to read the book to find out.
This novel is an enthralling thriller that kept me engaged from start to finish. It's important to note that this book can be enjoyed as a standalone within the McBride series. The detailed strategies to thwart the terrorist attack on North America were particularly compelling. I was struck by the significant sacrifices made by the newlyweds, who interrupted their honeymoon to protect their country. Kelly's expertise in computer decoding and Tom's background as a city policeman were crucial to the mission. Their professional skills and strong partnership make them one of the most compatible couples I've encountered in fiction. The book's structure, with each chapter ending on a cliffhanger, ensures that readers will find it hard to put down.
Dorothy May Mercer's storytelling prowess is evident in her ability to rapidly build an engaging plot. I was thoroughly engrossed from the first page to the last, with each chapter leading seamlessly to the next. The vivid descriptions of the potential consequences of a nuclear attack were particularly gripping. Mercer's writing is both skilled and engaging. This novel not only entertained me but also imparted valuable lessons about selflessness. My favorite characters were Cynthia and Sky, recurring figures in Mercer's stories. The depth and realism of the characters further enhanced the narrative.
I found no fault with this book. The author's depiction of the characters made them relatable, mirroring people we might encounter in our daily lives. The teamwork displayed in the story was inspiring, highlighting the collective effort to avert disaster. Mercer's creativity shines throughout the novel, and I must also commend the editor for a flawlessly edited, error-free book.
I wholeheartedly give this educational and riveting book 4 out of 5 stars. It opened my eyes to new concepts and thought.I highly recommend it to fans of suspense, thrillers, and action-packed novels.
