As an avid enthusiast of narratives centered around the Mexican drug cartel, I eagerly anticipated delving into "Opportunity Taken" by R. W. Frazier. Settling into my favorite reading spot, I cracked open the book with great anticipation, only to find myself feeling somewhat overwhelmed and, dare I say, a tad befuddled.

From the onset, it became apparent that Frazier wasn't shy about inundating the reader with copious amounts of information in a relatively short span. While I understand the necessity of establishing intricate plotlines and delineating each character's affiliations within the cartel hierarchy, the sheer volume of details felt like a deluge. I found myself mentally scrambling to keep track of which character belonged to which cartel group, family, or faction, reminiscent of needing a notepad to jot down notes just to stay afloat.

Despite the wealth of information, the pacing left much to be desired. The relentless introduction of new plot elements and characters left little room for breathing space or reflection. More than once, I found myself pausing mid-chapter, struggling to recall details mentioned chapters prior. A slower, more methodical approach to revealing the intricacies of the storyline could have facilitated a smoother reading experience.

For these reasons, "Opportunity Taken" garners a middling rating of 3 out of 5. In addition to the overwhelming influx of information, a handful of overlooked typos and the challenging dialect of certain characters detracted from the overall enjoyment. However, akin to the gripping allure of the drug cartel world, the relentless momentum of the plot kept me engaged, eager to uncover what twists and turns lay ahead.
