I initially thought that this book was of a single storyline. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it’s a compilation of several stories. The first story is one of transformation fueled by desperation. Getting so close to what you wanted, smelling it, tasting it even, only to have it snatched away from you. Hurts, right? A twist awaits you in the end that you will not see coming.
The second story has themes of rebellion, revolution and mystery. It is a web woven by an artist that taps into an unusual method of creating art. A method that is a secret known only to him. One that will blow your mind.
To summarize the flow of these stories, without giving any spoilers, is that they follow a similar pattern. They begin with an air of normalcy, no craziness or madness. But then they end up taking a turn, unexpectedly venturing into the realms of danger and horror. From the number of stories to the main themes of the book, it was a read full of surprises.
As you flip the pages, you will experience an array of emotions; shock, disbelief, stress, relief, anger, disgust and maybe a little bit of fear, depending on how well you handle horror-themed entertainment. It is important to mention that there are gruesome deaths and killings involving dismemberment, violence and blood. If this is not up your alley, feel free to skip the book. Also note, there is mild sexual content present.
It’s a short book with too many stories, in my opinion. This may have been one of the reasons why the author was not able to dive deeper into the storylines to make them more detailed. There is a sense of rush as some stories were a bit under-developed. This, however, did not take away from the entertainment aspect though. It still is a good book.
The editing was done flawlessly. I did not come across any errors, so kudos to the author and the editor! A job well done.
If you are into thrillers, horror, gore…then you’ll enjoy this piece.
