Pickles, otherwise known as Jennifer, is an amazing and adorable young sleuth that anyone will love. She is especially perfect for young girls to immitatie or aspire to be. I personally loved just how perfect Pickles was for the problem that she had been set forth to solve, and this made the story that much more enjoyable as an adult reader. She has a unique town full of people who adore her but are also ready and willing to let her grow up and become her own person. My favorite character interaction with Pickles on this adventure was with Mr. Giovanni, primarily for the sense of fun that he brought by teasing Pickles and her friend about a quirk that they had while sharing ice cream together. I think that the world would be a much better place if we were all able to have interactions like this more often.

Overall I really enjoyed this story and I was able to find no grammatical errors or typos in my read though! Great job to the author and the editor since this is not always an easy feat! One note that I would recommend is that in the first chapter Pickles is accidentally introduced to us on page 2 before her nickname is explained on page 6. This can be particularly jarring and confusing on young readers as they are trying to learn characters. So personally I would recommend changing that one line to Jennifer instead to make it easier. As I mentioned I really enjoyed this book and I would rate it a ⅘. The only reason that this story doesn’t get a 5/5 for me was that there was a most of the chapters felt like filler. I would’ve liked to have seen more of the two girls using these events of going around town to learn more about the area and what could have happened to the earrings. Even so I will still highly recommend this book to any young girls who have an interest in reading or who have a strong adventurous side!
