Maniacs, Monsters, and Bump in the Night" by G. Richard Evans is a collection of horror fiction short stories. The book contains twelve different short stories, each with different plots and characters. I was left intrigued, and of course, spooked. Believe me when I say that fans of the horror genre are in for a treat.
What intrigued me most was that the darkness behind these stories rose due to inhumane actions like indulging in abuse, violence, contempt, and so on. But that's not all, add to that a splash of fantasy, and science fiction as well. So, it is not just a bunch of stories that are scary, but meaningless. Rather, they reflect the author's worldview, and how humans can cause such spine-chilling terror.

In my view, the book is exceptional, and the author has done a meticulous job of editing, and proofreading. The language is easy to understand, and has a conversational flow to it. Although, some of the stories contain sexual content and profanity, the sexual content and vulgar wording added depth to the plot and kept me engaged throughout.

Nevertheless, I felt like some of the stories had exciting plot lines, but they were poorly executed. Maybe because they were so short that there wasn't time to develop them fully.I just loved reading the book, the writing style of the author is really engaging and awesome.

Overall, I found this book to be a worthwhile read that left me hoping the author will write another book. I recommend this book to adult readers who enjoy horror fiction novels. It is a great read for those looking to explore the genre.

In conclusion, I would rate this book a 4 out of 5. Although the book is a good read, I deducted a point due to how some plots felt underdeveloped, and too short to make readers feel horrified. Having said that, I genuinely enjoyed the book even though it is not my usual genre, therefore, I believe that anyone looking for a horror fiction novel, with a splash of supernatural theme, will really enjoy reading this book.
