Joseph LeValley's thriller novel, Three Weeks in Winter, features domestic terrorists, the killing of a law enforcement official, and a small town reporter who will do whatever it takes to get the truth. Though he isn't introduced to us at the start of the novel, Tony Harrington is the primary character. Since the Chicago Police Department is being secretive about the death of a local deputy sheriff, Tony is dispatched to Chicago to look into the case further. However, he soon discovers that nothing is what it seems, and he finds himself in the middle of a far more complicated scenario that could endanger the United States as a whole.

This book was a pleasure to read through to the end. As the reader, I was aware of details that the characters were unaware of; therefore, I really like how the author employed dramatic irony throughout the novel. This thrilling tale never stopped surprising me, even though dramatic irony was used.

The buildup of the story was very progressive; however, I felt like a lot was unfolding, and at some point, I forgot about the original plot. There were not just excessive plots; there were too many characters as well. Over time, the book became overwhelming to read.

After reading and analyzing this book, I have concluded that this crime novel is an enjoyable read. It is graphic, explicit, and vulgar in some instances. It also could have been edited a bit more thoroughly, as it contained a number of errors. However, it was compelling, and it ended with a cliffhanger, leaving the reader wanting more. Therefore, I give this book a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves crime and thrilling novels. I would also recommend this book to anyone who takes an interest in conspiracy theories. Last but not least, I would recommend it to those who love romance, as Tony's love life is one of the primary subjects in this book.
