Three Weeks in Winter by Joseph LeVally is an exciting novel that starts off with the death of Tim Jebron, a deputy police officer from Orney, Iowa. Although the Chicago police want to quickly rule the death as a suicide, Jebron’s wife and friends back in Orney are not so sure and suspect he was murdered. When journalist Tony Harrington and his girlfriend Darcy Gillson head to Chicago to investigate, they discover that Jebron’s death is connected to a group of White supremacists known as POVO. With the help of one of Tony’s friends who works for the FBI, it is discovered that POVO is planning to commit an act of domestic terrorism. To try and stop POVO, Tony and Darcy must help the CIA and law enforcement figure out what the group is planning and how to stop them before a tragedy occurs.

There are many things to like about Three Weeks in Winter. First, the plot is full of unexpected twists and turns. Even at the book’s conclusion, there is one final unexpected twist that will make your jaw drop. Another thing I like about the plot is that LeValley leaves leaves no cliffhangers or unanswered questions. The second thing I like about the book are the characters, especially Tony and Darcy. Tony is the kind of guy who will do anything and everything to get a good story, even if it means putting his safety in jeopardy. As for Darcy, let’s just say that she surprised me. When I read that Darcy was a famous actress, I was skeptical about her contributing anything significant to the plot. However, Darcy is far from the stuck-up snob I assumed she would be. In reality, she is very intelligent and helps a lot. I would also like to give a shoutout to the outstanding editing of the book. In the entire book I could only find one typo, which from what I understand is very rare.

The only thing I did not particularly like about the book is that it jumps around a lot. For example, one chapter could be centered around Tony and Darcy in Chicago, but then the next chapter takes you back to Orney and is centered around Tony’s coworkers at the local paper. This not necessarily a bad thing though because as you move along through the book, it becomes important to the story.

Overall, Three Weeks in Winter is an outstanding novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I gladly give it a perfect rating of 5 stars out of 5.
