Alaska Deadly is a work of fiction in the subgenres of criminal thriller, mystery, and suspense. It was written by author J. L. Askew and is best suited to a mature adult reading audience due to its themes and content. This great crime thriller has a plethora of plots crammed into a fast-paced plot. Alaska Deadly has a strong start that immediately draws the reader in. The characters are fully realized. I could readily imagine each of them. Race was a good main character. He appeared to be an ordinary guy, yet I admired his unusual military skills.

The book is a fast-paced crime thriller that never stops providing clues, danger, and intrigue from beginning to end. The interaction between Warren and Billings, who are well-crafted to be complementing allies but with very different ways of attaining what they want, was one of the aspects of the piece that I most loved. This gives the novel a dynamic air thanks to a lot of crisp dialogue and intellectual debate, which moves the merging storylines forward at a fast speed while still keeping readers immersed in all the specifics of the cases at play.

The Alaskan setting was fantastic, and I thought it was more than simply a backdrop, adding a fascinating cultural depth to the plot as well as a somber, atmospheric setting that added physical hurdles to the mystery itself. Overall, Alaska Deadly is a must-read for mystery enthusiasts everywhere, and I can't wait to see what else this gifted author has in store for readers.

The plot is a little wordy. I realized that the material was being repeated incessantly. The tale of how Race met Larsen, for example, did not need to be told to the anthropologists word for word. However, some elements that were added to the story were unnecessary. For example, Detective Roberts recognized Davis as someone he had imprisoned. These deviations from the actual plot resulted in an underdeveloped storyline. Due to its shortcomings, I rate the book a 3 out of 5.
