Chance, a Chinese native, and Catherine, a British citizen, are newlyweds. For their honeymoon, they decided to visit Chance's home town, and Catherine would get a chance to see where her husband grew up. What secrets will be revealed on this trip? Will their marriage survive?

One positive thing about this book was that it taught a lot about Chinese culture and traditions. I got to learn about their calendar and what different days meant. As Catherine toured the country, the author gave interesting historical facts about these different sites. The book made me want to visit China and experience all that Catherine did. I liked that the book had some unique and intriguing characters. One of my favorite characters was Chance because he had an air of mystery to him. Throughout the first chapters of the book, I was waiting for him to reveal that he was hiding some of his past from his wife.

While the story was interesting and enlightening, there were a few drawbacks. I think the book had too many filler chapters. Conversations and scenes that had nothing to do with the main plot could be avoided since they made the story tedious to read. I also thought that the author took too long to get to the mysterious aspect of the book. I was more than halfway through the book before anything remotely mysterious happened.

The prologue of the book was what piqued my interest. I was eager to find out what the note writer was talking about and why she wanted An to be found.

The book's editing was perfect as I found no errors. I will give this book a rating of 3 out of 5 stars. I think the story lacked intrigue and didn't pick up until the last few chapters. I would recommend this book to travel enthusiasts, as the book focuses mainly on traveling and visiting important sites.
