Kelly makes a startling discovery when she stumbles upon a secluded room at the rear of a store, housing computers displaying troubling images. These images depict what seems to be the electrical grid lines of her home country. Though caught in the act, Kelly manages to escape and urgently contacts her brother, Mike McBride, seeking assistance. Thus begins the journey of Kelly and Tom, the honeymooners, as they strive to uncover the source of the ominous threat to the United States.

The novel "EMP Honeymoon" is the second work I've explored from Dorothy May Mercer. While it is part of the McBride series and reintroduces characters from "Cynthia and Dan," it stands alone effectively. Much like Mercer's previous book, this narrative maintains a brisk pace, delivering unexpected twists and a gripping mystery. The primary setting is Honduras. Following Kelly's discovery of the enigmatic computer room and her escape from the antagonist, the story shifts to the United States agencies and their efforts to decipher and counter the threat against the USA.

One commendable aspect is Mercer's skill in addressing serious topics with a touch of humor, maintaining suspense without inducing distress. I appreciate the detailed information Mercer offers at the end of her books, providing links to relevant sources, such as NASA, earth's orbit, and EMP.

While I thoroughly enjoyed "EMP Honeymoon," my only critique is the desire for more buildup and depth in Kelly and Tom's relationship: a glimpse into their meeting, their wedding day, and an explanation for Kelly's fatigue in one scene. Nevertheless, the book is well-crafted and professionally edited, featuring natural and contextually fitting cursing without explicit sex scenes.

In conclusion, I award "EMP Honeymoon: Kelly & Tom" a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. It delivers entertainment, education, and the right blend of suspense. This book is recommended for those seeking a good, engaging, fast-paced thriller.
