Soul Seeker by Kaylin McFarren centers around Benjamin Poe, who leads his firehouse as captain. He has a 21-year-old son with whom he never gets along and a wife with whom he gets along occasionally. A fire breaks out, and some people die. Poe's son works at the location where the fire occurred, and the victims were known to harass him.

Poe is getting suspicious, despite his best efforts to think his son had nothing to do with the fire. Subsequently, a green-eyed, humanoid entity appears in the town and seems to know every person's secret. The beast is aware of Poe's son's true identity, and Poe will stop at nothing to keep him safe.

This book appeals to me since it is a romantic mystery with a lot of tension and intrigue. The reader could always tell what the main characters were thinking, which demonstrated that the author had given them a lot of thought. The fact that the book contained two stories was interesting because, as I read it, I kept wondering when the two plots would finally intersect.

The second part of the book was my favorite. A lot of characters grew there, and the action was intense. I like Poe's character the most because he was a caring father who took care of his family no matter what. I found some drawbacks while reading this book. As much as I loved the idea of two different stories intersecting, it became hard to keep up with eventually.

It made the book seem like two different books. It made the book unnecessarily longer. It makes me wonder if the book would have been better if the stories intertwined from the beginning. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. It was still a magnificent book that was well edited. I found no grammatical errors while reading this book.
