Review of E M P Honeymoon
"E M P Honeymoon" follows the newlywed couple, Kelly and Tom Turbulo, as they embark on their honeymoon on an island, unaware of the impending danger. Kelly inadvertently becomes entangled with a dangerous terrorist group, prompting her to seek help from her brother, Senator Mike McBride. Realizing he can't offer the necessary assistance, Mike reaches out to his contact, CIA Assistant Director Joseph, hoping for support. As the narrative progresses, find out if the team, along with Kelly and Tom, successfully thwarts this terrorist plot targeting North America.
Throughout the entire book, the pacing remained consistently engaging, starting with a thrilling beginning. The book managed to strike a balance between brevity, humor, informative content, and suspense. Its use of plain language ensures accessibility for readers of all ages. The storyline is not only intriguing but also highly relevant to current times. The book's organization is well executed, with clearly labeled chapters and scene transitions. The author's descriptive skills shine through, vividly illustrating each scenario, allowing readers to effortlessly immerse themselves in the unfolding narrative.
A standout moment in the book that I found intriguing was the TV talk show interview. The discussion centered on the thought-provoking question, "What if the power suddenly goes out?" This segment caught my attention as it introduced a topic I had never considered previously. It was a pleasant surprise to acquire new knowledge and gain insights into the impact of solar flares, using the Carrington Flare as an illustrative example. I especially liked how the author seamlessly integrated their image and website details, encouraging readers to explore the subject of solar flares further. This book indeed provides a wealth of informative content.
The narrative, unfortunately, lacks an element of suspense, as it immediately reveals the nation-threatening plot, denying readers the gradual unraveling of the peril. Moreover, the depiction of Colonel Rhee Su-Jin, the antagonist in charge of the island operation, may raise questions about the decision to send someone not fluent in English to an English-speaking territory. Additionally, the head antagonist of the novel proved to be careless and overly arrogant, which affected the overall experience. The ending appears hurried. I must commend the author and editor for a job well done; the book was exceptionally well edited.
I found this book to be an enjoyable read. It offers a lighter storyline that's perfect for a weekend getaway at the beach or a cozy day indoors on a rainy afternoon. Considering the factors listed above, I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I would recommend it to readers who appreciate a fast-paced and lighthearted action story. However, if you're seeking a more suspenseful thriller, this might not be the ideal choice for you.
