Review of Blanket Immunity
Summary:
Joana Channing is steering the story of a former Deputy District Attorney who, after failing to win a judgeship, decides to set up her practice as a criminal defense lawyer. When she started the legal practice herself by opening a new office, she got her first case from Brad Gecina, a suspended police officer accused of rape. During the case of Brad Gecina, she got another client, Tai Nguyen, from Jason Miley, which led to Marcos Omar. In the meantime, she gets into a relationship with Dzuy as a boyfriend, whom she met with her family. Later on, she found that Dzuy was still living with her ex-girlfriend. In the case of Brad Gecina, she gives him immunity from his ex-girlfriend, Casie Young. Later on, she found it was a plot to claim countermoney from the city attorney after getting an immunity deal. Later on, Cassie Young accepted in front of the police that it was a plot by her boyfriend. But the next morning, Brad was killed by Cassie. Later on, Cassie denied the plot. In the meantime, she got a call from Governor Blackwell, who offered her a judicial appointment as a judge, which is her dream career. At the dinner with her family, she announced that she was going to be a judge. Everyone Happy.
What happened with the crime and fraud plot of Cassie and Omar, and what about Jo's new career as a judge? If you want to know, then you have to read the next sequel to this novel, Gangster's Court.
Review:
Blanket Immunity is a compelling and approachable legal tale. This book provides an easy and enjoyable reading experience, featuring a well-structured plot that revolves around Jo Channing's journey. After an unsuccessful bid for a judgeship, she takes the initiative to establish her law practice. The story takes unexpected twists and turns, leading Jo to explore the dark side of the legal profession.
The author's experience as a civil litigation attorney enriches this engaging and authentic legal story. His profession lends an unmistakable air of realism to the story, though occasionally this authenticity leads to an excess of information about law, crime, suspense, fraud, etc.
What I like in this novel:
The deep knowledge, explanation, suspense, and thriller of the author in this novel are appreciable.
The ending of the novel leading to the next sequel is extraordinary.
The title of the novel, Blanket Immunity, also suits the story.
What I don't like in this novel:
In Chapters 30 and 31, the author uses the Spanish language to reflect the reality of the locality but does not provide a substitute English language in brackets.
I will rate this novel 4.5/5 because the crime, thriller, and suspense were described as happening in real life. and I will deduct 0.5 for the Spanish language and spelling errors.
