This book consists of 9 short stories, primarily in the genres of Crime, Thriller, and Horror. In my opinion, if you enjoy these genres, this book is a great choice, and you won't be disappointed. However, if you're not a fan of these genres, you might find it less appealing. To fully appreciate this book, you should have an open mind and a taste for intense storytelling. Some scenes in particular gave me goose bumps as I vividly imagined them. The author skillfully portrays the emotions of each character.

My personal favorites from this book are IT'S HARD TO BE A VAMPIRE and THE PAINTING STRIKES BACK. IT'S HARD TO BE A VAMPIRE stands out because it explores a unique concept where a girl willingly chooses to become a vampire, which is a different from the usual stories where people are turned into vampires forcibly. To understand her motivations, you'll need to read this story. The ending of short story, the painting strikes back was unexpectedly poignant, leaving a strong emotional impact on me.

As for NARCISSUS I was initially curious about the title and I wonder how a person kiss herself. Later, I learned the meaning of the word Narcissus through the internet. However, I found that some of the other stories within the collection lacked proper conclusive endings, in my view. One suggestion I have for the author is to consider a title that better represents the diversity of the 9 different short stories, as IT'S HARD TO BE A VAMPIRE may not encompass the entire collection adequately.

In my overall assessment, I would assign this book a rating of 3 out of 5 stars. While I enjoyed many aspects of it, there were parts that didn't captivate me and left me feeling bored at times. Nonetheless, the strengths of It's Hard to be a Vampire and The Painting Strikes Back and the author's adept portrayal of characters' emotions makes this collection a worthwhile addition to the library of readers who appreciate the darker and more thrilling dimensions of storytelling.
