Endgame is a tale by William Reed that addresses the topic of terrorism and provides light on how the Middle East's turmoil began. Nathaniel Jameson, the main character, devises a ridiculous plan to end terrorism and bring peace to the Middle East. The insane scheme was conceived when Nathaniel witnessed a terrorist attack at a zoo while on vacation with his family. The account answers the question of how and why terrorism began. It also explains how radicalization occurs and what the terrorists' ultimate goals are.

I appreciate the author for taking such a risk to address such a delicate subject. I'm curious whether the concept presented in this book might work in practice. It would be wonderful to live in a world free of terrorist actions. I enjoyed how this book clarified a lot of questions I had about the Middle East and its volatility without sugarcoating or choosing sides. Generally, the author approached the subject objectively.

What I didn't enjoy about the book was that some of the incidents made me upset and, to a lesser extent, made me see why Islamic countries would want the US to leave their borders. For example, when the author discusses the United States invading a country to stabilize it while killing innocent men, women, and children and labeling them as collateral damage.

This book gets 4 out of 5 stars from me since it is thought-provoking. Also, for such a difficult subject, the author did not shy away from the issues, and for the most part, he appeared to be taking a neutral stance. The book is also extremely detailed and thoroughly researched. It takes a special talent to weave such a sensitive subject into a compelling story, and this author possesses it.

This is a book I would suggest to anyone who is interested in terrorism and Muslim extremism.
