Khanjar: A Deadly Game Of Deceit by Bob O’Brien is a fictional crime novel. The main character in this novel is a Palestinian guy named Nasir Shehadeh, who prefers to be called Paul Shehadeh. Paul Shehadeh left his hometown to do his post-doctoral research at Columbia University, but his main aim is to lure Americans into funding his project of building a desalination plant that would offer clean water to Palestinians. The University of Columbia found out that Paul lied in his application letter. Paul defends himself by claiming he wouldn’t be accepted if he were truthful. He also tries to convince the university to support his project. Unfortunately, the university bans him from publicly speaking about his project. A bombing incident happens near Kensico Dam, and Paul becomes the main suspect. Was he the culprit who bombed the place? Read the book to find out.

This book is a well-told tale of patriotism, impossible love, deceit, mystery, betrayal, suicide, greed, and crime. The plot flows smoothly from beginning to end. The book has many actions and suspense throughout that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. The author describes the scenes vividly, which gave me an easy time to imagine the crime scenes. I express my gratitude to the author for detailing the situation between Israel and Palestine. I empathize with the innocent civilians who continue to suffer because of the unending war. I hope that one day, there will be a mutual solution. I liked how Nasir’s father advised his son to use a different approach to solve the dire situation of the Palestinian people. I appreciated how Paul acted professionally after finding a slur word written on the board.

The novel is very interesting. I can’t remember being bored at any part of the book. The ending was so unpredictable, but it continuously occurs in real life. The book was excellently written, and I didn’t find anything to dislike about this book.

I found no spelling or grammar errors in the book. I think the book was well-edited. For that reason, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I appreciate the author for writing an intriguing novel.

I recommend this book to everyone who loves reading crime novels. I also recommend it to people who enjoy reading complex love stories. I don’t recommend this book to younger readers because of the theme of crime in it.
